Author’s Note
Donna Mohamed is a first-generation Vietnamese living in Chicago. Although she believes we should not be defined by our appearance, we are an accumulation of our ancestors. She feels the burden of that line and writing allowed her to do something about it. “No one purpose or dream is sacred, but having one is. Thank you for reading mine.”
Meet the Illustrator
Venus Castro was born and raised in Elgin, Illinois. At a young age, she was interested in drawing. In class, as a child, she’d draw cartoons and comics. It caught the attention of a teacher, who instead of being mad, printed it out for the whole class to read. Venus is currently finishing her degree in Studio Art at NEIU and resides in Schiller Park, Illinois.
